Welcome to Cherry Tree Montessori!

All About Us ...

Cherry Tree Montessori Preschool was established in 1999 and is based in the village hall in Linton, a picturesque semi-rural location, conveniently situated between Wetherby and Collingham.

Nursery owner Denise Naylor, and staff, pride themselves on providing a warm and happy environment in which children are nurtured and supported in every step of their learning journey.

The Unique Child

At Cherry Tree Montessori Pre-school, we get to know each child as the unique little person that they are, enabling us to use their passions and interests to plan exciting activities and ensure that they learn and discover at their own pace. Children are given the freedom to make their own choices and correct their own mistakes. We focus on respecting the unique individuality of each child and on cultivating their respect for others, the community, and the environment. Our experienced staff initiate conversation and thought to inspire children with new knowledge and ideas.

Partnership with Parents

We believe that children achieve best when their parents/carers and early years educators work together in partnership.  As a small and independent pre-school, we are able to develop strong relationships with each of our families, responding to their individual needs and fully involving them in the life of our setting.

Our Teaching Methods

We want to ignite a lifelong love of learning in every child at Cherry Tree Montessori and we do this through a gentle balance of free play and structured learning experiences. Our curriculum is planned using the Montessori philosophy and principles, guided by the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

The nursery day is carefully planned so that the children have time to be active, time to focus, time to play and be noisy and time to be quiet with their friends.  Our two spacious rooms are full of exciting resources and provide a safe, stimulating and, above all, fun environment in which to play and learn. Children have free flow access to a rich and varied outdoor area, ripe for adventure and discovery.

Our highly qualified staff have many years of experience and are passionate about early years education and supporting the children in their care to achieve their full potential.

Outdoor Learning

Our gardens are designed just as imaginatively as our indoor spaces, providing the perfect backdrop for physical activities such as climbing, balancing, riding, playing ball games and completing obstacle courses.

Our outdoor areas also include mud-kitchen, water play, role play, a vegetable patch and Forest School-inspired learning experiences. We learn outside of the nursery on trips into our local communities and exploring the beautiful village hall grounds.
